U.S. Foreign Policy

This blog is about the U.S. Foreign Policy. The article is from September 17, 2009; and it talks about an agreement made between Poland and USA. The deal was signed in August last year and it would have strengthened the Polish government’s security by binding itself closer to the US. This would have also created a US military base in Poland itself, but the American government has been having a series of mistakes in the handling of the affair (This showed a horrific mistake from US because it showed a failure about their long-term thinking with Central and Eastern Europe). In a recent survey, only 55% of the Poles approved of the current U.S. foreign policy.

In my personal opinion, it’s good that the US sometimes intervenes in other nations’ affairs, because sometimes it provides other governments with materials or constructions that help stabilize it. An example of this would be right now in Iraq. Even though the reason for their stay in Iraq wasn’t because of intervention, ever since Hussein died the U.S. has been constructing new structures (like hospitals, houses, even a McDonalds). Of course, sometimes intervening in other nations’ affairs isn’t much of an aid. The perfect example in my opinion would be their intervention in the Vietnam War. They did everything to stop North Vietnam from conquering the South, but the North Vietnamese never gave up, giving a total war to the Americans.
